IRCTC has partnered with travel platform MakeMyTrip to provide its users with the PNR status and live train status on your smartphone. You just need to have the latest version of WhatsApp on your phone and, of course, a working internet connection.

REQUIREMENTS:

Firstly check if your phone has the latest version of WhatsApp. If you aren't sure you can look for the updates on Google Play Store or App Store and update the app if required.

3. Keep your train number and PNR number handy.

STEPS TO FOLLOW:

1.Open CALL ‘Dialer’ app on your smartphone OR Go to your smartphone's contact book and save THIS BELOW MakeMyTrip's number in your phone.

2.Type ‘7349389104’ (official MakeMyTrip WhatsApp) number and save it to your contacts.

3.After saving the number, open WhatsApp on your phone and refresh the contacts list.

4.Search the contact and tap on it to open the chat window.

5.Send your train number to check the live train status and to check the PNR status enter your PNR number.

6.After this, MakeMyTrip will send you the real-time train status or booking status of your PNR.

After you hit send, you will be provided all the details of the train status, such as whether it has started, departure station and time, expected arrival time, etc.

Both these services require MakeMyTrip to fetch the data (of the train or your PNR) from the IRCTC servers so you may face a slight delay in receiving a reply. Make sure your WhatsApp notifications are on so that you do not miss the status even in cases there is a delay in getting the data for your request. Moreover, these services are for all Indian Railways travellers, and you need not have booked train tickets from MakeMyTrip to use this service.
